View RecordsFind Stockton court records through San Joaquin Superior Court, distinguish case searches from background checks, and verify a Kansas filing separately.
For Stockton, California, start with San Joaquin Superior Court. Records Management holds archived public court records, many already adjudicated, while the court’s case-search service helps identify the proceeding. For Stockton, Kansas, the papers may instead name Rooks County District Court or Stockton Municipal Court. Use the state and exact court on the case paperwork before applying a fee schedule or sending a request.
A county court file is not a statewide criminal-history clearance. San Joaquin expressly says its name search locates an existing case and does not determine whether someone was charged with a crime. If an organization requires a California background check, obtain its product instructions instead of treating a local docket as a complete history.
San Joaquin’s online records request requires a case number and valid email address. Use its Case Management Search/eCourt guidance first when possible. Public search kiosks are on the Stockton courthouse’s second floor at 180 E. Weber Avenue. Records staff may charge $15 for a name search taking more than ten minutes. A common name should be narrowed before records from different people are combined.
Form CR-109 asks for the requester’s name, mailing address, telephone number, case number if known, name to be searched, case type, approximate filing years, and judgment or disposition date. Select the Criminal division and identify the exact documents requested. Complete what you know, clearly marking missing information rather than inventing a case number or date.
Ordinary San Joaquin copies cost $0.50 per page per side. Certification of a criminal document costs $40 per document in addition to copies; that is not $40 per page. CR-109 separately includes a $15 record-search fee line. Identify each document needing certification so the clerk can calculate the actual total instead of certifying an entire file unnecessarily.
The form requires payment before release and allows a check marked with a chosen not-to-exceed amount. It warns that differences of $10 or less are not returned. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope for mailed copies; postage may be assessed. A certified court document is a different product from a case-search screen, so ask the receiving organization which one it accepts before paying.
Mail CR-109, payment, and return envelope to Records Management, Suite 204, 180 E. Weber Avenue, Stockton, CA 95202. The court gives an approximately 20-business-day mail-processing period after request and payment arrive, with no rush service. Online-request staff contact is estimated at 24–48 hours; that is not promised copy delivery. Copies are not emailed.
For a visit, obtain appointment confirmation before appearing. The court’s current notice temporarily limits counter and phone hours to 8 a.m.–2 p.m., Monday–Friday excluding holidays, September 7–October 30, 2026. That dated notice matters even where a general appointment list shows later slots. Call Records Management at 209-992-5697 to confirm the visit and file readiness.
The main records page distinguishes payment channels: mail accepts check, money order, or cashier’s check, with no cash; in-person pickup accepts cash, credit/debit card, cashier’s check, or money order, with no personal checks. Use these channel-specific instructions rather than the form’s more general payment wording.
Rooks County District Court is at 115 N. Walnut Street, Stockton, KS 67669; phone 785-425-6718 and email [email protected]. The district’s page links the Kansas case-search service. Give the defendant’s name, case number, and relevant filing period, and identify whether you need the docket, an order, or a certified copy.
For a city municipal case, the Stockton City Office directory identifies the Municipal Court Clerk at [email protected]. City Office is at 115 S. Walnut, Stockton, KS 67669, phone 785-425-6703. These are different custodians even though both offices are on Walnut Street. Ask the named Kansas office for its own copy, certification, payment, and delivery requirements; California’s charges do not apply.
